Baby Shower Gift

I went to a baby shower on Saturday and had such a great time... I haven't been getting out much lately, and when I do get out it's to run errands, so socializing for enjoyment hasn't really been a big part of my life lately. Anyway it was really fun, and I'm glad that I went.... although to be honest I almost didn't go. I was going to go with my mom, but she went swimming and was going to get back late, and I'm turning into a pansy and not liking to do things on my own, which I need to get over because it's not cool.... anyway I did go because I made her a gift that I was really excited about.... a New Mom Care Kit....

a diaper pouch, which includes wipes, diapers, and spit clothes..... i have one, it fits right inside my purse (oh so handy!)

Bumbo

So yesterday morning before church Maria and I went upstairs to help make breakfast.... which neither of us were much of a help, but we did get the bumbo out to test it out with Maria....

she did pretty good.... i think her neck got tired after a little while, but that's ok. she hasn't had a whole lot of practice yet.

Lynden Dutch Bakery

Saturday Marco, Maria, and I bundled up and went to meet my parents out at the Lynden Dutch Bakery for breakfast. Her is Maria all bundled up... I love that this little pink jumpsuit of hers has ears!!

Mom held Maria after she finished her breakfast so i could eat mine, because....

Maria ended up getting hungry.... this was my first time nursing in public.... it went well.

2 am

my dear sweet maria just does not want to sleep right now.... thus the blog.

she didn't sleep well last night either.

good news, i'm starting to get used to it. i have to admit that i do miss 8 or 9 glorious hours of uninterrupted sleep.

they say to sleep when the baby sleeps, that's a lot harder than it sounds. when the baby sleeps i've got stuff to do. like laundry, or making the bed, writing thank-you notes..... maybe i should be doing some of those things now.... she's content in the swing. well, i won't make the bed cause marco is in it, and that would just be weird.

new camera!!

i'm so excited... my new camera got here today. i'm going to have to play with it a bunch to get to know it, but hopefully this means there will be lots of new pictures to share! here is one to start you off!

i enjoy the magazine "Real Simple". they've got quick tips on practically everything. i was perusing a few of their older magazines that my mom had saved and came across an interesting little personal story. one woman wrote in saying that she and her husband started to go to marriage counseling, not that they had any problems in their marriage, but they just felt distant from each other and didn't like that feeling. the counselor told them to kiss more.... look for opportunities to kiss and kiss. this woman said that it was all it took. she and her husband followed the counselors advice and it really helped. i really liked that story. i think that kisses are wonderful. so to all those out there.... distance or not, enjoy the kisses in life!

Birth Class Reunion

Saturday we had our birth class reunion! It was so great to see everyone there again. Their babies were all so beautiful. Maria is the smallest of the bunch, the biggest was about 13 1/2 lbs!! Maria slept almost the entire time (as you can see from the picture... still sleeping)
