we started this long trip by heading to rexburg. my dear sweet friend, mel, got married (more of that to come) and we (mom, maria & i) surprised her by showing up at her bridal shower!! it was so great to see her again, it's been TOO long. we got to the 'burg tuesday evening and headed over to the shower. then on wednesday morning a good family friend, beau:
came over to take care of maria for a few hours so my mom and i could do a session at the rexburg temple. beau is the first person, other than my parents that i've left maria with.
he was so great, especially for me. when it was time to go he spared us all the anguish of goodbyes by taking maria out onto the back porch and distracting her... no tears. it was the best that i could have hoped for. i think it was definitely harder for me leaving my baby behind that it was for her. he said that she was great, all except for when he changed her diaper. she really doesn't like that, and she wiggled around so much that he actually broke one of the little tabbies off!
i'm so grateful that beau was there and able to take care of maria, it had been a while since i had been to the temple, and it was so great to go thru again. i love the peace that is there!

Such a cute picture!
Isn't he great? I think he is...I miss having him around here to leave the girls with! And how fitting for him to be the first person you left her with...your mom and dad were the first people Keira ever got left with!
Oh, and at least the diaper didn't end up on backwards....Erik is not always so good about that part!
hahaha... no the diaper didn't end up on backwards, but i seem to recall that her pants were on inside out, which makes me laugh.
Oh...i'm sad I didn't know you were coming! I would have loved to meet up with you sometime! Oh, well. maybe next time? I'm glad you had a fun trip though and I am really glad maria did okay!
