I asked my mom (gardening queen that she is) and Marigolds are great for repelling slugs.
Then she whipped out this handy book "New Complete Home Landscaping" by Catriona Tudor Erler which is a great resource for all types of landscaping and gardening.
She showed me page 292 which has a table on "Combining Plants to Repel Pests".

Cool! A way to naturally repel pests? I'm going to have to try the tomato-basil combo. I remember those hornworms from our garden as a kid, and they are so GROSS!
There are some really pretty herbs that repel pests. We went to Lavendar Days last year and learned about it. I love plants!
